Jonathan Rea will not Go to MotoGP – Confirmed his Renewal with Kawasaki

Two days after becoming the pilot with the most number of absolute victories in the World Superbike, Jonathan Rea has confirmed this morning his renewal with the Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK for two more years, negotiations that have been longer than expected after the representative of the Larne pilot had been negotiating – unsuccessfully – his jump to MotoGP during these last weeks.

Jonathan Rea arrived at the Akashi structure in the 2015 season, after a long adventure with Honda. With the Kawasaki ZX-10R, Rea has been the great dominator of the championship during these last three years, sweeping with all the titles to add a total of 44 victories -60 in total summing those of Honda- and three world championships.

“I am more than happy to continue the next two seasons with the Kawasaki Racing Team,” said Rea, who will remain linked to the Japanese team until the end of 2020. “Since the end of last season, we have already started talking about the continuation of our association, so it’s good to have it all finished now, so we can concentrate on the remaining careers of 2018. Since I arrived at the end of 2014 and I was welcomed into the Kawasaki family we have achieved success beyond our dreams crazier, this is where I want to stay. ”

“Of course, it is natural that we continue to write this incredible story together, and I want to thank everyone in Team Kawasaki Racing for believing in me and for this opportunity. Together we will work harder than ever to keep the ZX-10RR at the forefront of WorldSBK in the future. I have the best team of people around me to ensure that we can continue fighting for the World Championship, “said the Northern Irishman.

Rea, the current leader of the championship with 65 points of advantage over Chaz Davies, has published this nice video on social networks confirming its renewal:
