MotoGP Netherlands (Assen) 2018

MotoGP 2018

The emblematic Circuit TT of Assen will host this weekend the eighth round of the Motorcycle World Championship, the Motul TT Grand Prix of Assen, an appointment that comes two weeks after Jorge Lorenzo added his second consecutive victory at the controls of his Ducati G18 in Barcelona, circuit that later hosted a test day that served for many teams to work on the set-up of their bikes for the Dutch World Cup.

In the premier class, Marc Márquez arrives in Assen with a total of 115 points in his locker, a sum that allows him to lead the overall MotoGP with a comfortable distance of 27 points over Valentino Rossi. The Italian won here, in Assen, last year, and since then neither he nor Yamaha have been able to visit again the highest step of the podium. His partner, Maverick Viñales, faces this race with 77 points in his pocket, and with the hope of not repeating the performance of last year in Assen when he suffered a strange fall at the start of the last chicane of the circuit.

In Moto2, the general championship is tighter than ever. The discreet results that the leader still Pecco Bagania has harvested in Italy (4th) and Barcelona (8th) have allowed Miguel Oliveira to stay just one point behind after the victory that the Portuguese rider of KTM achieved in Mugello and the second position reached in Montmeló. With 94 points and a 24 point deficit with respect to Oliveira, Alex Márquez still does not give up in his fight for the Moto2 title. The Spaniard still does not know what it is to climb the podium in Assen on a Moto2, although he was able to win in Moto3 in 2014 when he was proclaimed world champion.

Finally, in Moto3, the regularity that Marco Bezzecchi has been demonstrating this season (he only abandoned at Le Mans) allows him to face the appointment of Assen with a comfortable distance of 19 points over his compatriot Fabio Di Giannantonio, Jorge Martín’s teammate Gresini The Spaniard is third in the Moto3 general standings, 23 points behind Bezzecchi, and after the bad taste of his fall in Barcelona (the third of the year), he will try to re-engage in Assen to the fight for the title in the benjamima category.

As usual this year, Movistar MotoGP will offer a live the entire Dutch Grand Prix, as well as the Video pass of the Motogp.com website.
