GSX-R 1000R 2017 – Taking advantage of the fact that both Andrea Iannone and Alex Rins will be riding their respective GSX-RRs on Phillip Island starting next Wednesday for the second IRTA test of the season, the two Suzuki Team ECSTAR riders dedicated this last Sunday afternoon for a ride at the Australian circuit on the new GSX-R 1000R 2017, just days after the specialists press had the opportunity to thoroughly test the new Hamamatsu superbike on this same stage.
Although the wind and the threat of rain conditioned this test, both Iannone and Rins were delighted after checking the improvements introduced in the new gixxer, a motorcycle that goes for all in the segment superbike with a new propeller of 202 hp engine with inherited technology directly from the MotoGP GSX-RR, such as its new Suzuki Racing Finger Follower Valve Train that allows greater precision and control in opening the valves at high revs.
After getting off the new GSX-R 1000R, Iannone commented that “to be a street bike, the GSX-R 1000R really impressed me“. The engine is very powerful but the delivery of power is also easy and safe to control for inexperienced pilots, but at the same time it is aggressive enough for the more experienced. The manageability is extraordinary. Once again Suzuki has proven to be very skilled in developing an easy-to-drive bike, with smooth good agility reactions. ”
Asked about the GSX-R 1000R 2017’s most striking feature, Andrea explains that “the most striking thing has been the speed of cornering in this circuit, it reminded me of what I found on my GSX -RR of MotoGP. I also like the change, the quick-shifter is very smooth and allows a very comfortable ride ”
Alex Rins’ impressions have been similar to those of his teammate: “The manageability of this GSX-R 1000 R is impressive. It is easy to drive, gives you a lot of confidence in the front and allows any rider to go fast, Or just having a good time. The power of the engine is incredible, but at the same time very smooth and controllable. In general, the reactions of the bike are quite predictable and effective. It really feels like a racing bike, is very stable in braking It has excellent cornering speed and the power at the exit of the corners is impressive, so you can really enjoy the pleasure of riding.”
After the track activity, the two Suzuki official MotoGP riders have staged an event at Phillip Island to which all the brand’s distributors have come. Here is a video:
