It’s here. After seeing it as a prototype in the latest edition of the Pikes Peak, Ducati has just presented its new Streetfighter V4 2020 in Rimini, a maxi-naked that arrives at the market ready to become the queen of the ‘naked superbikes’, a very competed segment where it will have to face rivals such as the Aprilia V4 Tuono, the KTM 1290 Super Duke R or the recently introduced Supercharged Kawasaki Z H2.

Starting with its engine, we are facing the same Desmosedici Stradale 1103 cc engine already seen in the Panigale V4, an engine that has a four-cylinder configuration in V at 90º and that is capable of delivering 208 hp of power at 12,750 rpm. The maximum torque is set at 123 Nm. at 11,500 rpm.

The Ducati Streetfighter V4 has a shorter final exchange ratio compared to the Panigale V4 that guarantees a 10% increase in torque according to Ducati. These figures can be further improved with the installation of a non-approved exhaust for the street developed by Akrapovič, raising the final power to 220 hp with 130 Nm. In addition, this exhaust system weighs six kilos less compared to the original.

Ducati also notes that there is the option to mount only Akrapovič exhaust tails while maintaining the series manifold system, thus delivering 216 hp of power with a saving of four kilos. This formula is also not legal for driving on the road.

The position of the rider changes radically compared to a Panigale V4. The seat is 845 mm from the ground, and the handlebars change for a new high handlebar that, together with a 60 mm padding on the seat and a less extreme position, make the Streetfighter V4 a more comfortable and less tired motorcycle than the Panigale.

The chassis used is known as ‘Front Frame’ that uses the engine as part of its structure, with a compact front structure and a weight of only four kilos. In this way, Ducati can take advantage of the Desmosedici Stradale engine to achieve the necessary rigidity, reducing the extension of the mainframe and its weight, which is 180 kilos dry (178 kilos in the S version).

The Streetfihgter V4 mounts a Showa Big Piston Fork (BPF) fork of 43 mm in diameter, fully adjustable in the hydraulic brake, compression and rebound, and in the spring preload. In addition, it has a Sachs steering damper, a brand that also signs the rear shock absorber attached to one side of the Desmosedici Stradale engine through a forged aluminum body.

Ducati has also confirmed the arrival of a Streetfighter V4 S that will mount a Öhlins NIX-30 fork, a Öhlins TTX36 rear shock and an Öhlins steering damper with an event-based control system, that is, it will have electronic management on both trains thanks to the Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 second generation system.

While the Ducati V4 Streetfighter is equipped with cast-aluminum wheels with a five-spoke design, the V4 S version is equipped with three-spoke Marchesini wheels in forged aluminum. The new Streetfighter V4 2020 is equipped with the powerful Brembo Stylema monobloc clamps – the same as the Panigale V4 – that represent the evolution of the M50 clamps.

The 16-liter aluminum tank has a hidden part located under the seat. Compared to the Panigale V4, the tank has been modified in the lower area to allow the mounting of a saddle with a larger foam to increase the comfort of the pilot. In the front, space not occupied by the fuel is used to place all electronic components, including the battery.

In the electronics section, the Streetfighter V4 for 2020 assembles a 6-axis inertial platform, the same one already used by the Panigale V4. The list of electronic aids that it includes is as follows:

ABS Cornering EVO
Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO 2
Ducati Slide Control (DSC)
Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO
Ducati Power Launch (DPL)
Ducati Quick Shift up / down (DQS) EVO 2
Engine Brake Control (EBC) EVO
Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES) EVO

All this information can be managed through its dashboard formed by a high-resolution 5-inch TFT screen, the same one used by the Panigale V4. The pilot can choose between two different designs: ‘Track’, with the time per lap in the foreground and the most visible engine rotation tachometer, and ‘Road’, where the time per lap information is changed to Ducati Multimedia System ( DMS)

One of the hallmarks of this Streetfighter V4 motorcycle for 2020 is its two large ailerons located on the sides. According to Ducati, these appendices generate up to 28 kilos of downforce (aerodynamic load) at 270 km / h, of which 20 kilos with the front wheel and 8 kilos in the rear. The ‘wings’ also provide benefits in terms of heat dissipation by increasing the air inlet rate of the water and oil radiators, respectively by + 2% and + 10%.

The Ducati Streetfighter V4 2020 will have a price already confirmed in Italy of 19,990 euros, which will rise to 22,990 euros for the S version with full Ohlins electronic suspension and forged tires. We still have to know your PVP in our country.
