The holiday break is over and the riders return to action. His activity off the track has not stopped, training in order to arrive in the optimal conditions to the next appointment on the calendar: The Grand Prix of the Czech Republic. Marc Márquez arrives with the leadership in the premier category and will try not to make mistakes and lose it.
In an interview with AS, the Spanish rider has admitted that “the feelings (with which he arrives in Brno) are obviously very good.” However, he does not rely on the following events of the championship: “We have covered half the championship and I see that many things can still happen, both to me and to my rivals because at any moment you can add a ‘zero’ point. Still, I will try to continue with the inertia of the first part of the championship. ”
The advantage he has over Andrea Dovizioso does not reassure him. Honda’s rider said that “nothing is done yet, but I will try to manage it in the best way. So far the strategy and the dynamics have worked and we don’t have to change anything. There are factors such as rivals and mechanics that are alien to you, but you have to take advantage when things are going well, but you know you will suffer until the end. ”
The motorcycle of this year has nothing to do with that of 2018. Márquez considers that with the new RC213V “we have gained speed with the engine, but perhaps it is a safer bike because there is more information, but a good or bad motorcycle is made by your rival and if he has a better motorcycle, yours is worse and vice versa. I say that the motorcycle is now good because we are championship leaders, but we must continue working to know why I am the only Honda ahead. It’s about getting an easy-to-ride Honda and that everyone wants to come and race with Honda. ”
Despite having some more complicated Grand Prix than expected, Andrea Dovizioso remains the strongest opponent for Marc Márquez. The Spanish stressed that “Dovizioso is the most constant at the moment. It is showing very regular, but as for the fastest, Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins are also there and they will want to improve. I am sure that none has given up and neither would I. ”
The results of Jorge Lorenzo’s first half of the season have not met the factory’s expectations. This is how Marc Márquez has acknowledged that “surely he did not expect a start to the season like this and neither did the team. I believe that the ambition of both the team and his is to show things for the future, to turn around the current situation. Now he is not in his best form because he is injured and from the team, we hope he will recover and come back as soon as possible to get information about the bike, score points and that things are going better for him. ”
Finally, he wanted to talk about the situation in which his brother is. The Honda rider stressed that “in the previous years’ things didn’t work out (for Álex Márquez). Right now it seems that he is in great shape. He is one of the three best riders in the Moto2 category and it would be a big deal for both of them to repeat the double in 2014, “concluded Marc Márquez.
